2XXfm is a not-for-profit radio station that
exists to give a voice to the Canberra community.
We’re proud to be Canberra’s
longest running community radio station, playing a vital role in local culture
and media. At 2XX we make radio for the people, by the people.
Since our inception in 1976,
we have offered an alternative content to commercial radio. We have a long and
interesting history. Many Canberra locals have a
2XX connection - whether they listen, subscribe,
have volunteered or dropped by the studios over the years. Read about our audience.
We’re supported by our listeners, subscribers, sponsors, grant funding, donations and the local community. As a community station, we don’t answer to any
advertisers or shareholders.
We are in the Canberra region
FM airwaves at 98.3 and in 2018 we joined the digital radio age. We also have a
growing online audience who listen live or on demand.
On the 2XX
Our program grid boasts over 80 hours of homegrown, diverse
content in many different languages. The voices on 2XX airwaves are as diverse
as our audience.
With over sixty programs that range
from special interest and music to
multicultural and multi-lingual shows, current events, local news and culture.
Our shows cover local news and current affairs from around the world, youth issues, Indigenous programming and many special interest programs in
culture, science, politics and the environment.
All 2XX shows are
created by volunteers with a passion for what they present and for 2XX. Teams
are self-organizing and decide what they present, and what they play.
We proudly support the local live music
scene with regular airplay and a dedicated drive-time program, Local n Live, with interviews, gig
news and the latest local releases.
Over 20 special interest,
local, and other music-based shows are broadcast here each week. Read about Music on 2XX.
